This item is an INTAGLIO. It is not an original banknote.
An intaglio is NOT a reproduction but rather, an official reprint of a banknote or treasury note. These are reprinted by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, or the American Banknote Company (depending upon the date of issuance) and are completely legal to possess. No one else could make a reprint, as it would be an illegal counterfeit. However, B.E.P and A.B.N.C can legally make reprints.
They are not legal tender
and do not contain a serial number. The Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) and American Banknote Company (ABC) used the original press plates to make the intaglios. Intaglios typically have very high standards for print quality. Many times they are better quality than the original notes!
