1 New Hampshire Goldback Aurum .999 Fine Gold Foil Note 24KT 1/1000 oz Gold
There’s a voluntary unit of local currency that exists in New Hampshire called “Goldbacks,” 24-karat gold foil notes that are crafted in increments of 1/1000th of an ounce of highly pure 99.9% gold. Already, many local merchants and vendors are accepting this new form if currency as payment.
The creation of the Goldback relies on 5th generation vacuum deposition technology. The designs are printed on a sheet of polymer that is then bombarded with the correct amount of atomized gold particles in a vacuum chamber. This gold is then sealed inside by a second protective barrier of polymer, thus creating a beautiful negative image. Valaurum has been developing the process for nearly two decades and it has never been counterfeited. Held each year before Halloween, the Festival holds the world record for the most lit jack-o’-lanterns with a total of 30,581 on October 19, 2013. The back of the note displays the negative image of the front illustration, which also serves as a security feature.
