This coin in card recognises Australia's most revered national occasion – Anzac Day. Commemorated every 25 April on the anniversary of the first Gallipoli landing, it is a time when the nation pauses to remember the sacrifices of all servicemen and women since 1915.
The 2021 Anzac Day Coin in Card recognises the centenary of the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), which was born out of the Australian Flying Corps, the branch of the Australian Army responsible for operating aircraft during World War I.
The coin’s reverse portrays an aviation themed design comprising aircraft silhouettes surrounding a stylised motif representing a flaming torch and flying wings. Also included in the design is the inscription LEST WE FORGET and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.
The release is mounted on a dark blue card featuring a gold coloured emblem mirroring key elements of the coin design. The card also features a watermark comprising the words ‘Lest We Forget’ and stylised laurel, a symbol of victory.
