Description
This tribute to the Australian rock band AC/DC is a product of the Royal Australian Mint. The band, formed in 1973 by Malcolm and Angus Young in Sydney, is poised to release their seventeenth studio album, "Power Up," in November 2020. The coin commemorates the 40th anniversary of the For Those About To Rock album released on November 20, 1981.
28.52 mm diameter coin is struck from 11.3 grams of Copper-Nickel (CuNi).
The coins feature a selectively colorized uncirculated finish.
Whimsical Vinyl Record Style Design
Obverse: The effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II created by award-winning British sculptor Jody Clark appears on each obverse. Inscribed "ELIZABETH II," "AUSTRALIA," "20 CENTS" and the year of issue "2020" or "2021."
Reverse: The reverses are designed to imitate a black grooved vinyl record, with the album name and anniversary noted near the rim. Iconic elements are located at each coin's center, borrowed from the cover art of the "For Those About To Rock" album.
Each coin is encapsulated and tucked into an individual, fully colorized miniature album cover sleeve.
