Item up for sale is the original, September 22nd, 1984, partial edition ( 8 pages ) of the New York Post; the lead story of the day was of the murder of the first female, New York City Police officer ever killed in the Line of duty, 25 year old, Irma Lozada, who was assigned to the now defunct Transit Police Department, who was attempting to apprehend a chain snatcher in Brooklyn, after having separated from her partner in a subsequent chase. The young cop's body would be found in a vacant lot in the vicinity of Chauncy Street and Evergreen Avenue, near the Cemetery of the Evergreens, in the confines of the 83rd police Precinct. She would be missing for an agonizing 3 hours, a virtual eternity for police on patrol that day. When she was eventually found, the single, three year veteran, would be discovered to have a single gunshot wound to her head, believed to be from her own revolver, which in all probability had been wrestled away from her by the perpetrator. Police Commissioner Benjamin Ward would rush to the tragic scene, where even seasoned investigators were stunned for lack of words.
