    Description

Very nice Ixworth cross cloisonné pendant - bronze
    Anglo-Saxon Cross Pendant from Ixworth.
This detailed replica of an Anglo-Saxon cloisonné pendant was made after the Ixworth cross, which dates back to the Merovingian period.
The Ixworth Cross was found in 1856 in Ixworth, Suffolk, England, next to a disc fibula in an early medieval grave and was completely decorated with cloisonné made from red garnets applied to a gold waffle base that shimmered through the gemstones.
The Anglo-Saxon cross dates to the 7th Century and was probably made at the same time as the famous Sutton Hoo jewelry.
The precise execution and the symmetry of the cloisonné work were very demanding and the color of the garnet was chosen so that it became darker towards the center.
In contrast to the historical original, this replica of the Ixworth Cross is not made with real almandine cloisonné, but with a red glass flow and is made of bronze rather than gold.
The Anglo-Saxon cross pendant has the dimensions: 4.5 x 3.9 cm.
    A black one
    leather band
The trailer is 1 m long.
