    Description

For sale is an original issue of The Evansville (Indiana) Courier newspaper from December 1977. It contains several days of coverage of the Dec. 13 airplane crash that killed 29 people, including the University of Evansville men’s basketball team. This 12-page section — the extremely rare “Memorial edition” — contains photos and stories that were published in the morning Courier between Dec. 14 and Dec. 19. It measures 14 by 23 1/2 inches and is in very good condition, with typical vertical and horizontal folds. There are several small tears along the horizontal fold, but the item still displays nicely. Local newspapers with “first-day” coverage of this tragedy are rare, but this “Memorial edition” is even more hard to find and highly coveted by historians and collectors. It will be shipped folded.
