Description

The original capacitors for pre-solid state HOBART KitchenAid K45 and K5-A mixers were discontinued many years ago. Today they are only occasionally available as used parts.
What I am offering is a NEW capacitor for less than the cost  of a used one.
This is a
NEW direct replacement part compatible with
pre-solid state
HOBART KitchenAid
K45 and K5-A
mixers. It has the
same 0.1 uf capacitance as the original capacitors
and can handle up to 250v AC. This is a
ceramic type with potted insulated leads
which adds up to very good resistance to heat and adverse environmental conditions.
It has the
highest capacitor safety rating
for line-to-line application, shown as
X1
in the 3rd photo next to 0.1 uf.
Non-polarized
. There is no positive or negative. Wires can be attached either way..
As you can see in the photo, it fits snugly in the cardboard sheath. The size and construction make it an excellent choice for this type of application. NOTE: Push it in as far as possible to avoid the back cover mounting screw.
I installed one in a K5-A mixer and it ran with the normal tiny sparking at the speed control plate contact points and changed speeds perfectly. Then I put the rear cover back on to retain heat, and ran it non-stop for 30 minutes at the 2 lowest speeds. These are the speeds that create the most heat from the resistor. Then I switched to higher speeds and ran it non-stop for another 30 minutes. The mixer didn't miss a beat and performed perfectly at all speeds.
