Ornate 14k Gold ~10ct Amethyst Seed Pearl Pin Brooch Pendant
Presented is a stunning 14 karat yellow gold, pearl and amethyst pendant or
brooch. This piece dates to around the 1970s-1980s, and is likely of European
make, though we aren't sure. The pendant is prong set with a beautiful round cut
amethyst in a lovely light purple shade, the photos can't do it justice. The
stone measures about 15.2 millimeters in diameter, or about 10 carats in size.
The amethyst is surrounded by two tiered rows of seed pearls, well matched in
color and lustre. The edge of the pendant as well as the bail have an elegant
rope-twist design. The bail is hinged/retractable, so it can be folded down and
is not visible when the piece is being worn as a pin. The pin clasp has a very
secure locking design, where a little threaded nut has to be unscrewed to allow
the clasp to open.
The pendant is in great condition. The hinged bail and clasp are both
functioning well. The amethyst and pearls are all intact.
The pendant is not stamped or hallmarked but we have tested it with nitric
acid and guarantee it to be 14 karat gold.
The pendant is about 1 1/4 inches in diameter, or about 1 ¾ inches long
including the loop/bail at the top.
The pendant weighs 17.4 grams.
