Description
Sir Walter Raleigh (1554-1618) was an aristocrat, writer, poet, soldier, courtier, spy & explorer. Most people remember him for bringing tobacco to the King’s court, but he did so much more! He was an anti-Catholic Protestant who spent time in the Tower of London, supposedly brought potatoes to Ireland and attacked the Spanish throughout the Caribbean regularly. He finally had his head chopped off in the Tower to politically appease the Spanish. He defiantly told the ax man: “Strike man, strike!”. Excellent condition. Includes certificate of authenticity. Approximate size: 6” x 9”.
