Seymour "Sy" Barry was born in New York City on March 12th, 1928. Sy Barry drew the Phantom Sunday and Daily comic strip for 33 years. (His 1st Daily strip titled "The Slave Market of Mucar" story ran from the 21st of Aug 1961 thru Feb 10th 1962; his last Daily strip titled "The Phantom Cowboy" story ran from un 6th 1994 thru Dec 17th 1994). In the height of the Phantoms popularity Lee Falk and Sy Barry's Phantom stories were read by over a 100 million people a day; both in newspapers and comic books around the world. His illustrations have touched the hearts of millions; still today Sy Barry is considered one of the most famous Phantom artists who have ever lived. Since Sy Barry’s retirement in 1994 he has continued to draw and paint wonderful prints and posters of the Phantom.
