She served as a commissioned ship for 23 years and 4 months (1967 - 1992). USS Charleston was involved in the Vietnam War, earning eight awards and campaign ribbons for her service. The Vintage USS Charleston (AKA-113/LKA-113) Coat of Arms on Wooden Oak Plaque is bronze and in great condition with some minor scratches and nameplate residue present (see photo under zoom).
Written on the Coat of Arms is "Animis Opibusque Parati" which is Latin and the definition is "prepared in mind and resources" (also South Carolina State Motto). The Trident symbol represents "
