WEEKLY SOHO NEWS METAL NEWSTAND INSERT + DEATH OF SOHO NEWS PARTY Invite TUNNEL

After 20 years as the circulation manager of the Village Voice, Daniel List (dad) went to work with the Weekly Soho News....walking all over the city, bulls&itting with news dealers at the hundreds of new stands around the city....I know this, because he dragged me around with him as a child.  These are some sort of metal insert used to advertise or give the Weekly Soho News prominence over other competitor papers (especially THE VILLAGE VOICE) at whichever newstands.  He gave A LOT of these out.  He worked for the Village Voice, but Rupert Murdoch fired him and the entire original crew...many of which found safe-harbor in like-minded, and ultra-cool Weekly Soho News.
Alas, all things must pass, and Soho News also also eventually succumbed, leaving poor ole dad homeless, but at least they had a huge "Death of Soho News" Friday, March 20, 1987 party at the swank TUNNEL club, on 12th street (220)...monster/zombie/mummy etc themed.  VERY kitsch.  He drifted on to a couple of other publications, but how can you go back to the farm after seeing Pareeeee? ;-)
